Yeezys are essentially meant to be casual outfit shoes. However, a few models like the Yeezy 500 and 700 can perform well as workout shoes. But if you’re paying over a couple of hundred bucks for them, why would you want to risk destroying them in the gym?
I’ll put it simply, Yeezys are non-fancy shoes that cost as much as any fancy shoe would. So by default, you’d want to take special care of them and not destroy them at the gym.
This isn’t to say they can’t perform well as a workout shoe though. The Yeezy 380, Yeezy 500, and Yeezy 700 can be great for low-intensity workouts at the gym.
Are Yeezys Running Shoes?
If you plan on running in your Yeezys, I’d just save your money and invest in proper running shoes instead. The Yeezy 350, Yeezy 380, and Yeezy 500 aren’t very ideal for running due to lack of support and durability. But Yeezy 700 is the best option if you want a designer running shoe!
Are Yeezy 500 Good For Workouts?
While the Yeezy 500 might not be ideal running shoes, the bulky midsole and chunky silhouette make them more suitable for workouts at the gym. So yes, they’re great workout shoes.
The Yeezy 500 features an adiPRENE+ sole that provides cushion support along with shock absorption. Along with this, the padded color provides a snug fit making the shoe ideal for those HIT workouts.
Are Yeezy 350 Good For Workouts?
According to Kanye West, the Yeezy 350 V2 was made for the gym! And there have often been images of Kim Kardashian sporting the sneakers during her morning workouts. This is to say- yes you can wear your Yeezy 350s to the gym.
However, be mindful that they have a primeknit upper which isn’t ideal for workouts that involve a lot of jumping and flexibility. But as far as comfort goes, the Yeezy 350 definitely wins. I’d say these shoes are great for pilates or yoga.
Are Yeezy 380 Good For Workouts?
The Yeezy 380 are similar to the Yeezy 350s except the heel has better structural support giving it the benefit of added stability. So yes, you can definitely wear your Yeezys 380 to the gym as well. Just don’t do intense cardio when wearing them!
Are Yeezy 700 Good For Workouts?
Of all Yeezys, I believe the Yeezy 700 is the best for both, workouts and running. The midsole is designed with Adidas’ boost technology for stability as well as comfort. Plus the upper is more tensile on this shoe, meaning you can run, jump and sweat it out in them!
The Yeezy 700 also has a mesh lining for breathability, which is an essential feature for workout shoes.
Are Yeezys Good For Basketball?
While Yeezys might not be the best basketball shoes, they can definitely be worn for the game!
Yeezy QNTM and Yeezy BSKTBL sneakers are designed specifically for the basketball court, so naturally they do well in that area. The shoes are designed for comfort and support and fit snugly making them suitable for the court.
There have also been reports of NBA player Nick Young sporting a pair of Yeezy 500 to a game in New York. So if an NBA start can wear it, why can’t the rest of us?
The Bottomline is…
Yeezys are well-made shoes and there is no doubt that they could work well as gym shoes if worn with care. But are they the best workout shoes you can invest in? No.
Most of us buy our Yeezys from the aftermarket, which is much more than its actual price. Spending all that money on a pair of shoes only to sweat into them at the gym? I honestly don’t see the appeal.
But if you like the fit and comfort, and like wearing your Yeezys to the gym, who am I to stop you? Happy gyming!
